Holiday June – Lefkada

The month of June is a wonderful month to opt for a flying holiday to Greece. Spring is in full swing and the weather can usually be called summery. The advantage of June is that nature is still beautifully green and there are many blooming flowers in all scents and colors. The weather is already nice and warm in June, but not as hot as in the summer months. Temperatures often rise above 25 degrees during the day and cool down in the evenings. In June it is still nice and quiet in the tourist areas, the sights are so much better to see. The sky is extremely clear, so you can fully enjoy the beautiful views.

The water of the swimming pool and the sea have already warmed up, which makes swimming a bit more pleasant. The days are getting longer and even in the evening you can usually dine outside on the terrace.

June is a wonderful time for hiking enthusiasts and water sports. Lefkada is an island with lots of contrasts with erratic and steep rocks and a beautiful nature with lots of greenery. Of course you can discover the island yourself by foot, but there are also plenty of options for guided walking tours.

Walking on Lefkada is a unique experience and you will find many short walking routes on this Greek island, varying from 30 minutes to an hour or longer and with distances of one to ten kilometers. Most routes are mapped out in the higher parts of northern Lefkada. The island is at its best in May and June, nature is beautiful green and the flowers and plants are in bloom. We recommend that you also visit the waterfalls of Nidri during this period, water is still in abundance and it falls down impetuously.

A walk with the reward of a dip in the sea at one of the most beautiful beaches in Lefkada, Agiofili, is another option. The walk takes approximately 45 minutes and the distance is around 3,500 meters. The walk starts in Vasiliki and you walk south along the harbor. The road goes up and after a fifteen minute walk the asphalt turns into concrete. You can now also see the first handmade plates with "Agiofili". Continue to follow the concrete road. After 35 minutes you will come to a crossing and follow the sandy path to the right, descending towards the sea. Continue to follow the path further down. The last part is the most difficult part of this walking tour, steep concrete stairs with a total of 75 steps, thereafter you find yourself on a beautiful sandy beach, ready for a dip in the sea.

June is also a good time to make a round of Lefkada by car or a crossing by ferry to the islands of Meganisi and Kefalonia.
