Lefkada is located on the west coast of Greece surrounded by the calm waters of the Ionian Sea between Corfu and Kefalonia. The city is surrounded by the sea channel that separates the island from the mainland and the lagoon in which the multicolored houses are reflected. There are daily scheduled ferry services from Nidry and Vasiliki to the islands of Meganisi, Kefalonia and Ithaka. Moreover, tourist boats make trips to nearby islands and beaches that can only be reached by boat. If you rent a motor boat you can also make these trips yourself.
A continuous-flow bridge connects Lefkada with mainland Greece which makes the Preveza (Aktion) airport only 30 minutes away from Lefkada. Direct charter flights connect the island with most European capital cities and Manchester and Birmingham in the UK. Those who travel by car from Italy have particularly easy access to the island via the port of Igouminitsa.
The weather is very stable between May and November, lots of sunshine with a cooling breeze from the sea in the afternoon.
