Windsurfing Lefkada

The best spots on the island Lefkas for windsurfing are Agios Ioannis beach and Vasiliki. Vasiliki is internationally known as one of the best windsurfing destinations in the world. Despite the strong winds in the afternoon the water at Vasiliki is often relatively flat, making it ideal for windsurfing. At Agios Ioannis beach the water is a bit deeper and you will find higher waves which makes it more suitable for kite surfing than windsurfing.

Excellent windsurfing conditions due to the strong wind that blows through the bay in the afternoon, called "Eric", in combination with the reasonable shallow sea creates the perfect conditions for the windsurfers. As a result fanatic windsurfers from all parts of the world come to Vasiliki to enjoy these perfect surfing conditions. The morning is for the beginners to learn the technique and once they are ready they can plane over the water in the afternoon.

For those who don't windsurf it is even nice to sit on the beach and watch the surfers gliding at high speed over the water. There is a recognized windsurf center of the RYA (Royal Yachting Association) at the beach.
